Description & details Funding by television means that the project must be carried out in a difficult to access spot in very bad weather so that the deep mud and job stresses make for good TV! Historic Scotland masons built a target wall and cut 150 to 200 kg stone balls. rnrn In the moments before the first throw we sang "Give peace a chance" on the hill. Once the machines were adjusted for range they both proved highly accurate landing stone after stone on target.rnrnFixed machine - 27ft Doug Fir arm, 7 ton fixed lead weight, wheeled.rnrnBasket machine - 47 ft Oak throwing arm, up to 15 tons wet sand in hinged basket.
